I have learnt so much about the renaissance just by playing 1 game. So in class we were playing a game and it have 2 different sort of cards, they were: a bluder and a stump card. A blunder card is where you get a little paragraph about a person and it has a question in it and you have to do research to find the answer to the question, then tell Ms. Nash. A stump card is a card where you get a topic and find out as much information as you can so you can write a paragraph or an essay about that topic. So the first couple of rolls we got a blunder card. I cant remember all of the blunder cards but I know 2 of them, they were, were there public toilets in the renaissance, and were there forks in the renaissance. So there were toilets in the renaissance but there were not public toilets and there were forks in the renaissance. Then I think we had 4 stumps and I can’t remember all of them either but, some of them were, we had to go from a church to a gate and we also had to find out about astronomy in the renaissance, but I cant remember the rest. That is what we did in the game that we played over the last 2 classes.

#1. Think about class today and reflect on the presentations you listened to. Explain with details and specific information what you learned and what you found interesting about the presentations you heard in class.

Well I really liked everyone’s interview and I at least learnt something form someone’s. But if I don’t have much information for someone’s that is not my fault because some of them I really couldn’t hear because they didn’t speak loud enough.

Kim- Leonardo da Vinci.

I learnt about the time-line of his life

He made his most famous painting which was “The Monalisa” in Florance which is in Italy

The church would not allow Leonardo to cut up dead body parts so instead he cut up animal parts form the butchers.

Shane- Marco Polo

Marco Polo was born on September 15th, 1454

He was capable of speaking 4 languages

He spent 17 years in Cathay which is in China

He wrote a book about Cathay which became a best seller

Tom- Michelangelo (I couldn’t hear him very well)

Michelangelo was born on March 6th, 1465

His parents and everyone else didn’t give him much support

People became more religious because of him

You Won- King Henry VIII (couldn’t hear very well)

He is most famous for marrying 6 times

He made himself the head of the Church of England (which I am part of)

His father was King Henry VII

Sebastian- Christopher Marlowe (Couldn’t hear him at all) (have no information)

Anthony- Miguel de Cervantes

Before Miguel was a writer he was a slave

His best book was Don Quixote

As I said before he was a writer

The rest of my classmates and their interview’s either weren’t working or they didn’t put it on their blog yet.

#2. What would you change to improve your interview/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?

What I think I would do if I had a chance to redo my interview would be to get some more information on my person so I could actually put myself in Martin Luther’s shoes and see kind of what it is like to be him. I think I should also work a little harder on my interview script not particularly making it longer but just putting some more extra details into it. I don’t think I really needed to do anything else because I think I did a pretty good job!

Martin Luther, he was a very brave and coragous person because he stood up for what he belived in and made a difference in the church. In church you always use the bible right? Well you use that because of this <strike>really great</strike> FANTASTIC guy (well I really shouldn’t say just a guy because he was much more than that) and this guy’s name was MartinLuther. Martin Luther was the creator of the 95 thesis, he also made allChristian and Catholic churches use the bible and while doing that he created a new church himself! You are probably wondering what the 95 thesis is and the 95 thesis is a document about the religious beliefs of Martin Luther and it has 95 lines that chalenged the Roman Catholic Church. The 95 thesis was an extremely valuable piece of work and was Martin Luther’s most famous peice of work. Listen to my interview below to find out more information.

What new information has emerged?

Well as you know that North Korea is freezing nuclear bombs so that they can send them over to America. There are 6 nations working on this and those nations are: US, North and South Korea, Japan, China and Russia. South Korea, China, the US and Russia - but not Japan - will provide 100,000 tonnes of fuel oil or an equivalent value of economic or humanitarian aid.South Korea, China, the US and Russia - but not Japan - will provide 100,000 tonnes of fuel oil or an equivalent value of economic or humanitarian aid.

What did you fing interesting about this topic?

The thing I found interesting was that you could freeze nuclear bombs. I found that interesting because I never new you could freeze nuclear bombs and also that makes them not explode. Another thing that I found interesting was that 6 different countries were working together so they could ship the bombs from North Korea to America.

What did you like about the initial blog?

What I liked about Anthonny’s blog was that it was very informative towards me because I found out allot of new things that I had never known before. Also I find North Korea very interesting because I think it is very wrong to make all the people stay in North Korea because it is like keeping animals in captivity.

What is the issue?

16 people were killed and 33 wounded just because 1 suicide bomber wanted to kill herself. There were about 200 police recruits standing there when she jumpped. The suicide bomber was in Baghdad and was outside of the Muqdadiyah police station when she jumped.

Who was involved?

The 200 police recruits were involved because they were the ones standing there when she got killed. The women of course because she was the one that made this event happen. And also the 33 people that were wounded and the 16 people that were killed were also involved.

Who is affected and how?

The people who were affected was the suicide bomber because she caused this mess and killed 16 people, so the 16 people who got killed because they got killed by the women that bombed it, the 33 people who got wounded because they got hurt badly and were scared for life, and most probably the 200 police recruits because they all have the vision of the bomb going off and a picture of a innocent person jumping and killing plenty of people.

What would you do if you were directally involved?

The thing I would do is trying to talk to the lady that was going to jump and find out why she wanted to jump and bomb herself/ kill herself. The other thing I would do if that didn’t work is trying to find a way to make the bombs not go off and try to save her life some how and some way.

There are so many people these days who are willing to give up their lives for what they believe in and what they think is right. The people I think that make a decision and sometimes don’t realize that they are risking their lives are policemen and firemen. I think they risk their lives because firemen are going and putting out fire’s everyday and their friends and family never know if they are going to come out alive or not because they could have got stuck and burned to death. Also I think police men risk their lives because they are trying to catch all the criminals out there that are really silly for doing all the stuff that they do but there are so many criminals out there that a policeman could be shot or blown up or something any minute while they are doing their job.

Armies that go out and fight in wars also risk their lives because they are fighting against other people because they disagree, and even though they disagree I don’t think they should go to war about it, but they are also fighting for what they believe in and what they think is right.

The people in the medieval time who risked their lives were the Christians that went to fight for the Holy Land where Jesus Christ was born and lived. They risked their lives for religion because they didn’t want to let Jesus down and they also wanted to see and experience what life was like for Jesus when he was still alive.

The people in the medieval time who risked their lives were the Christians that went to fight for the Holy Land where Jesus Christ was born and lived. They risked their lives for religion because they didn’t want to let Jesus down and they also wanted to see and experience what life was like for Jesus when he was still alive.

What new information had emerged?

Well as you know the Japanese are going with their “tradition” of whaling and are killing allot of Innocent whales. So the knew information that I found out about this was that Japan is making a deal with other poor coastal countries that they were offering fisheries aid to them so they would vote that they should keep whaling.

Japan has secured the help of eight nations at the IWC in this way: six eastern Caribbean states, (Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Kitts and Nevis), the Solomon Islands and most recently Guinea. All of these countries regularly go to the IWC meetings and say that they are going to vote that Japan can keep whaling and they are all in favor of that.

What did you dinf interesting about this topic?

Well before Hylke did this topic for his current event, I didn’t even know this was going on in the world. The thing I find most interesting is that people treat animals as if they are absolutely nothing and that they are nothing in this world. I think this is very wrong (even though I am not a vegetarian) that people are killing animals for the wrong reasons, and they are only really killing them because it is a tradition to the Japanese and that the Japanese have to bribe people to make them vote that they can keep whaling. But otherwise from that I do find this very interesting to find that whales are coming very close to extinction and that people can be so cruel.

What did you like about initial blog posting?

Well as I said before I had never ever heard of Whaling before Hylke had told us what it is and what is happening! I also liked when he said what he was going to do if he had the power to change things because I like the way he was so environmentally friendly and was willing to get help by other people and not just try and fix every thing on his own.

In the last few lessons we have been learning about the medieval times.

I would have to say that my favorite lesson was when Ms. Nash put this poem up on the board and we had to write what we felt it meant:

“Ring o’ ring of roses

A pocket full of posies

A tissue, a tissue

We all fall down”

This was always a nursery rhyme my mum always used to play with me and you would stand in a circle and when you said “We all fall down” we would always fall down. Ms. Nash told us to write what we thought what this nursery rhyme meant and I had never thought about this before but I wrote that it meant that they were standing in a ring of roses, that they had a pocket full of tissues and when they sneezed they fell down and died. To find out what the rhyme actually meant we watched a movie which was like a news report and told us that the nursery rhyme was actually created because of a very deadly disease which actually started by black rats!

I have also learnt that in the middle ages people never took credit for their mistakes and they always blamed it on the gods. As you can see the people back then were very religious and even when that deadly desease was arounf that I was telling you about before they thought the gods were mad at them for some reason and to once again they blamed it on the gods.

I have had fun learning about the middle ages and hope to learn more.

Zaira!!!
